Forward Error Correction & Modulation
|
We offer traditional forward error correction, plus optional, advanced methods. When combined with higher order modulation, it provides increased coding gain, lower decoding delay, and significant bandwidth and power savings.
Turbo Product Coding (TPC) – Offers increased coding gain, lower decoding delay, and significant bandwidth savings when compared to traditional methods. The range of code rates offered spans Rate 5/16 through 0.95, depending on modulation type.
Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) Coding & 8-QAM Modulation – When used in networks with lower FEC coding rates and higher data rates, the power and bandwidth savings offered by LDPC are most apparent. In conjunction with LDPC is 8-QAM modulation, which exhibits far superior performance compared with conventional 8-PSK. When LDPC and 8-QAM are combined, satellite transponder utilization can be maximized, resulting in minimized operating expenses.

DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier
|
Our revolutionary and award-winning DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier is based on Applied Signal Technology’s patented “Adaptive Cancellation” technology that allows full duplex satellite links to transmit concurrently in the same segment of transponder bandwidth - doubling your throughput. When combined with our advanced forward error correction and modulation techniques, DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier delivers improved satellite transponder utilization and unprecedented operating expense savings. |

IP Module |
In modems configured with the IP Module, satellite link efficiency in IP networks is maximized. With optional, advanced features such as Header Compression, Payload Compression and Quality of Service (QoS), bandwidth optimization can be taken to a new level. This optional functionality is commonly deployed in offshore, satellite news gathering, enterprise and cellular backhaul installations.

Flexibility
|
To support deployment in remote and hub environments, we offer both L-Band and 70/140 MHz systems, plus data rates from 2.4 kbps to 155 Mbps. Our extensive range of IF frequencies provides the options you need for operation with single or multiple transponders, and configurations to accommodate Low Noise Block Converters (LNBs) and Block Up Converters (BUCs). Our product line includes both open and closed network modems. For open configurations, we are fully compliant with Intelsat IESS-308, 309, 310, 314 and 315, plus DVB-S and DVB-S2. Additionally, a wide range of interfaces is available.
Drop & Insert – The Drop & Insert (D & I) multiplexer works with the G.703 interface to enable our modems to transmit or receive fractional parts of a T1 or E1 data stream. Most commonly utilized in cellular backhaul environments, two variants of D & I are available.
Redundancy – To support your mission-critical applications, our offerings include both external switch compatibility and on-board, built-in redundancy, with either fully automatic or manual switching operations. 1:1 and 1:N solutions are available for most products.
