Shipping ImageThese products are entry-level satellite modems that provide industry leading performance and flexibility in a 1 RU package at a very competitive price. It is the platform of choice for network operators, enterprise users, service providers, broadcasters and government users for a wide range of applications.

Designed to address the market for low-cost terminals, the modems are available with 70/140 MHz or L-band IF and EIA-530/-422, V.35, EIA-232 and G.703 data interfaces. An optional Internet Protocol (IP) Module with 10/100Base-T Ethernet port is available for IP centric applications.

For cellular backhaul, the CDM-570/L and CDM-570/L-IP also offer point-to-point E1 RAN Optimization as an option.

Data Encryption
The CDM-570-IPEN and CDM-570L-IPEN models have an optional data encryption feature. Configurable on a per route basis, the modem supports 3xDES data encryption to prevent unauthorized access to data transmitted over the satellite link.

Advanced IP Module Options

  • Header Compression – Configurable on a per-route basis, reduces the required Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) bandwidth by as much as 60%.
  •
  • Payload Compression – Applied to the entire Layer 2 (Ethernet frame) or Layer 3 (IP datagram) packet optimizing traffic and reducing satellite bandwidth up to 40%.
  •
  • Quality of Service (QoS) – Reduces jitter and latency for real time traffic, provides priority treatment to mission critical applications and allows non-critical traffic to use the remaining bandwidth.
  •
  • Vipersat Management System (VMS) – Integrates with the powerful network management tool VMS. In addition to the traditional monitoring and control of the CDM-570/L-IP modems, CDD-564/L and CDD-562L demodulators, the VMS allows these devices to share bandwidth, and when needed, switch automatically to a dedicated SCPC channel.

E1 RAN Optimization

Comtech EF Data’s RAN Optimization technology significantly reduces the WAN (satellite) bandwidth required to carry an E1 bearer used for cellular backhaul. It provides the user complete control over the desired level of optimization and link quality. Depending on the traffic profile, typical bandwidth reduction of 30-35% can be achieved with little or no impact to the voice quality. The WAN bandwidth can be reduced by as much as 60% relative to the ingress data rate, allowing users to achieve desired bandwidth savings and voice quality. CDM-570/L provides usage statistics to assist with link monitoring. E1 RAN optimization cannot be used simultaneously with IP Module.

Data Encryption

The CDM-570/L-IPEN model has an optional data encryption feature. The unit supports 3xDES data decryption to prevent unauthorized access to data over the satellite link, and is configurable on a per route basis.
